“I can’t climb trees all that well so you wonder why,” she replied with a roll of her eyes as she cleansed away the sight of Al’s wagging finger.
”We wouldn’t want that. Imagine how much tea and meditation it’ll take for you to get back to regular chi flow levels. It’d be legendary,” Harper stated with a laugh, a soft sigh leaving her lips as she shrugged a final time to gesture the completion of her worry. “I hope for his sake that he’s got better things to worry about beside little ole me-, I’m harmless,” she teased with a hand over her heart as she attempted a naive smile.
“—Just thought I’d give you the heads up is all. Besides-, I haven’t seen you ‘round lately anyways. What’ve you been doing?”
—That reminds her…she’s running out of tea…
A quick trip to the bone slums might be in order soon, the thought just briefly causes her nose to crinkle. Not exactly her favorite place to be—although the sweet little asian lady running the shop was nice…even though she was certain the tea shop was a front of something else. —But what wasn’t these days?
Al gave a knowing crane of her head smiling as her friend laughed. They all had much more pressing matters looming over them. Looking to Harper she gave an amused shake of her head —About as harmless as a Viper, the blonde lets the thought pass but opts to leave it unspoken.
” I left. ” russet hues shift to the floor. —My father is in the hospital is what she means to say but, ” Didn’t think anyone would notice if I slipped out for a few days. “
Harper knew that she didn’t have to hide anything from Al. She could have lied, that much was still an option, but there would be nothing to gain from shielding a part of her life from her best-friend; funny how the world seemed to work and she had been gifted with one in the first place.
“Frightening? I’m only afraid of bears and clergymen,” Harper teased lightly with a shrug.
She was wary of course, this was her whole life now and she idly wondered what she would do to keep it in tact. “He has nothing to gain from it. It’s not like they’re putting pilots up for tribal council or anything. I trust him not to do anything stupid.”
” Bears are quite scary… ” she replied with an amused waggle of a finger in her friends direction.
” He would have one angry Fightmaster on his hands if he did. —Forget the bears. ” a breathy chuckle rolls over her lips and a lingering smile curls them. Al knows trust isn’t something easily thrown around, even at times like these. She’s not exactly sure if Harper said the word literally, if she really trusts him wholeheartedly, or if it was just the word that best fit the sentence. —But even still, ” If you trust him I suppose I will too. “
—Though keeping an eye on him anyway isn’t exactly off-limits…
